Description

Fichte Johann Gottlieb  -       "All death in nature is birth, — the assumption of a new garment, to replace the old vesture which humanity has laid aside in its progress to higher being."
" Každá smrť v prírode je zrod, práve v smrti sa viditeľne prejaví povýšenie života."

I find this work of art very interesting because of how symbolic it is. In several aspect, I will try to justify my opinion as clearly as possible.

In regards to colors, I am confident that they are blended well and properly distributed in the background and the foreground. The ones in the background are naturally blurrier while the ones in the foreground (the body, the tree and the light) are clear in order to bring them to the focus of the viewer's attention.

Speaking of light and shadow contrast, I personally believe this is a prime example of how to utilize it, as I have no complaints about it. When you see the angle of the lighting in the work, you see how color shades of the tree and the body gradually darken from right to left and such flow is smooth and consistent.

Finally, I would like to focus on the symbolism this work might convey, although I do not think there is much to figure out, especially with the provided quote that gives us further hints as to what it could stand for. Namely, in my opinion, it tries to tell us that from the old comes the new and that the cessation of one life gives birth to another, forming a never-ending cycle of balance in nature.

As such, I would say that this work has clear interpretation as well as its representation. I encourage the artist to keep producing more of quality works like these, as this type of concept I find intriguing and worth pondering upon.
